Grading Scale

  • GEM-MT 10: Gem Mint
    A GCG Gem Mint 10 card is a perfect card under magnification.  Four sharp corners, clean surface and edges, and centering that is 55/45 or better. 
  • MINT 9: Mint
    A GCG Mint 9 is a perfect card to the naked eye.  Four sharp corners, clean surface and edges, and centering that is 60/40 or better.  The card may exhibit minor imperfections under magnification. 
  • NM-MT 8: Near Mint-Mint
    A GCG NM-MT 8 is a near perfect card to the naked eye.  Mostly sharp corners, mostly clean surface and edges, and centering that is 65/35 or better.  The card may exhibit minor imperfections. 
  • NM 7: Near Mint
    A GCG NM 7 is a card with slight imperfections.  Mostly sharp corners, semi-clean surface and edges, and centering that is 70/30 or better.  The card may exhibit minor imperfections. 
  • EX-MT 6: Excellent-Mint
    A GCG EX-MT 6 is a card with clearly visible minor imperfections.  Some sharp corners, semi-clean surface and edges.  Centering that is 75/25 or better.  The card clearly has minor imperfections. 
  • EX 5: Excellent
     A GCG EX-5 is a card with clearly visible imperfections.  Wear on corners, edges, or surface.  Centering that is 80/20 or better.  The card has some imperfections. 
  • VG-EX 4: Very Good-Excellent
    A GCG VG-EX 4 is a card with clearly visible imperfections.  Wear on corners, edges, or surface.  Centering that is 85/15 or better.  The card has multiple imperfections. 
  • VG 3: Very Good
    A GCG VG 3 is a card with many visible imperfections.  Wear on corners, edges, and surface.  Centering that is 90/10 or better.  The card has multiple imperfections. 
  • GOOD 2: Good
    A GCG Good 2 is a card with many visible imperfections.  Wear on corners, edges, and surface is significant.  Centering that is 95/5 or better.  The card has multiple imperfections.
  • PR 1: Poor
    A GCG Poor 1 is a card with the lowest possible eye appeal.  Wear on corners, edges, and surface is extreme.
  • A: Authentic
    A GCG Authentic A is a card that is authentic but cannot receive a numerical grade because it does not meet minimum size requirements, has been mis-cut, trimmed, re-colored, restored, etc.
